Senior Process Engineer

Description

Lectrolyst is seeking a senior process engineer or process chemist with extensive experience in the fine and/or specialty chemicals production chain. The primary responsibility of this position is to identify new marketable applications for our carbon utilization platform. Strong candidates will have a deep understanding of existing chemical production chains, a demonstrated ability to implement new chemical technologies in the market, and a desire to make a sustainable impact in the industry by evaluating promising applications on both economic and life cycle merits.

This position can be either full-time or part-time, depending on candidate availability and mutual agreement. Both in-person and remote work options are available; if remote, travel to events and mission-critical meetings may be requested.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop process models for new chemical production technologies, including integration within existing supply chains

  • Identify new production targets through market analysis and knowledge of opportunities in the fine and specialty chemicals markets

  • Conduct techno-economic (TEA) and life cycle assessments (LCA) of stand-alone and integrated systems

  • Work closely with the technical development team to assess new device-level and systems-level targets, evaluate critical data, and contribute to the decision-making process for future objectives

  • Coordinate with company leadership to guide customer discovery, new grant writing, and investor relations

  • Actively participate in the professional community, including building and maintaining networks for identification of new business opportunities

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar with 15+ years of experience in the fine or specialty chemical production chain

  • Experience with process/techno-economic modeling

  • Willingness to learn new skills in a dynamic environment

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship (and must reside in the United States if engaged in remote work)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS/MA with 13+ years experience, or PhD with 10+ years experience). The advanced degree can be in any relevant technical field or in business administration/business development

  • Experience in the amides or amide derivatives markets, either as end products or as part of a multi-step synthetic pathway towards more valuable compounds. Experience with acetylation chemistries strongly preferred

  • Experience assessing new technologies on the basis of economic value and/or sustainability

  • Experience in multiple chemical productions divisions in the same company or across separate companies strongly preferred

  • Experience planning or analyzing greenfield and/or brownfield projects, especially projects which include new chemical production technology

About Us

Lectrolyst is a growing startup building a new class of carbon utilization technology, using renewable electricity to transform waste carbon into value-added chemical products. While our vision is to scale into sustainable high-volume production by making end products like green ethylene, our short-term targets leverage unique capabilities of our underlying electrochemical technology and include amides and amide derivatives for far-reaching applications. We seek to expand our team with talented individuals as excited as we are about creating a sustainable future for chemical manufacturing.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should email a cover letter and CV to team@lectrolyst.com. The position will remain open until filled.
